One of my MD clients received an unsolicited email from a medical search engine optimization company today. The only one specializing in medical markets. This is untrue, there are many.

Used Car Sales Techniques & SEO

Greetings, searchers of the Internet,

I monitor web form and catch-all email traffic for a number of my clients. These unsolicited emails keep showing up from the Gmail SEO people:

Subject: Question about your website

I was looking at websites under the keyword "pick your search phrase"and came across your site domainname.com I see that you're ranked 6 on page 8.

I'm not sure if you're aware of why you're ranked here but more importantly how easy it would be to improve this ranking position in the search engines.

There's no reason you can't have a first page ranking for this keyword based on your site structure and content. You have a very nice site.

You need significantly more one-way anchor text backlinks. If you're interested I can help you with this...

I'm talking about getting you ranked for ALL your keywords. Adding new backlinks on a steady and consistent basis from high quality websites is what produces the rankings you are looking for.

The right kind of links are very critical in getting top ranking....and I can hand deliver these quality links to you.

My partners and I own 1000's of websites and offer private linking to hundreds of website owners just like yourself.

(This is the part I really like.)

I didn't send this email out to thousands of people but I am currently reaching out to a list of your "keyword competitors" as well. But your site looks like it is setup to monetize targeted website traffic and your's is the type of site I like to work with.

I have your contact info as:

Phone Number

Is it ok if I give you a call?

I have a very simple way to prove that what I do works and I remove all the risk for you.

Nothing beats seeing the results with your own eyes.

Is it ok if I give you a call? I would love to pursue this further over the phone with you so you can learn a little bit more about how we can deliver the kind of website profits you are looking for.

Sincerely,
Mike Last Name Withheld to Protect Innocent Children and the Environment

P.S - If the tables were turned and somebody I didn't know came to me with a proposition, even one that was appealing, I would be hesitant because I would be wondering - what's the catch? What does this guy know that I don't?

But then I would think he might know something that I don't know. He does have thousands of high PR websites, he does have hundreds of thousands of pages indexed and ranking in Google Yahoo and MSN. Sites that can deliver the quality anchor text backlinks I need to get top rankings.

And he is offering to turn-key top rankings for me...on all my keywords. Even keywords I'm not currently competing for. Keywords that will produce traffic that's potentially worth tens or even hundreds of thousands dollars.

I emailed you because It's a win-win for both of us. Think of it this way...Who wouldn't be interested in buying money at a discount? Because that's what I'll be able to do offer you...Money at a discount. You pay me a little and your website pays you back a bunch.
Is it Ok to give you a call?

I get four or five of these a day, same message different name. It's kinda creepy to me, a SEO phone stalker? Are links into your website important? Yes. From reputable websites that are not contrived linking schemes. Not the thousands of websites and hundreds of clients?

My question is and always will be for these types of messages that apparently some folks respond to (otherwise they wouldn't keep sending them?) is if SEO and what you are selling works so well, why do you need to use the lowest of the low marketing technique of unsolicited email?

The key question to any optimizer should be "What's in YOUR website?"

In the case of this particular message the other questions is, don't you know any good copywriters?

Cheers,

Ron Castle

The SEO Adventure Begins

Greetings searchers of the Internet,

The SEO-Optimization.com website was created several years back solely for the purpose of taking advantage of MSN's totally lousy algorithm which honors spammy pages above relevant content. They changed the name to live.com just to emphasize that they aren't dead, my opinion. Poor Bill Gates has to be very disappointed that hundreds of millions of dollars invested do not a good search engine make?

My other and main website www.roncastle.com has been where all the action has been for me continuing to expand my web presence and SEO-Optimization.com has been almost totally neglected. Even MSN and Live.com have stopped sending me traffic from all but the most ardent searchers.

I don't really need to change my strategy, I get plenty of traffic at my other websites, but I am changing it anyway. I need a place to offer up helpful information that rises above the throng of unsolicited emails telling us how lousy our websites are and that some unknown person with a Gmail address can analyze your website problems and offer resurrection (without ever having looked at our websites).

Miracles like this always inspire me.

Search engine optimization certification will be one of the things I will blog about here. Even barbers have to have a license?

What does it take to call yourself a search engine optimization consultant? Nothing more than a multi syllabic vocabulary. You don't even need a website, but it helps.

So, I am going to set aside a little time each week to say something useful here to all of you who are creating bad websites much faster than good search engine optimizers can fix them. I owe you a debt of thanks for continuing to do this because it allows me to work as many hours for pay each week as I care to work. There is no end to the opportunity.

Cheers,
Ron Castle
